I picked up this little dude last month...it's a NDT 5mHz thickness measurement gizmo...over the past few weeks I have been measuring everything from glass to brass - surprisingly it's within a few thousands of an inch. Tomorrow - I use it on a steel hull. I will post what I find out.

Nice. I wonder how that works and its mechanisms. I'm about to start my job at a manufacturing plant next week and I was actually looking for more information about the Mitutoyo coordinate measuring machine when I came across this post.
Now I became even more curious with metrology and its applications. I'll start by observing inspection services on CMMs.
